🇪🇺 atvari GmbH has signed The European Social Stack declaration.

This is an open commitment to building a federated, interoperable, European-owned social ecosystem. As a software and cloud engineering consultancy focused on Rust, Nix / NixOS, and open source, this philosophy aligns deeply with how we operate.

Key commitments include:

Eurobridge: bridging the Fediverse (ActivityPub) and the Atmosphere (AT Protocol)

Privacy-first distributed identity aligned with the EU Digital ID Wallet

Shared DSA/DMA-compliant content moderation infrastructure

An ecosystem where small builders can ship and users move freely

Trillion-dollar incumbents dominate today. The answer isn't another walled garden. It's an ecosystem. Europe has both the technical talent and the regulatory framework to lead.

We join roughly 100 organizations and 600 individuals in this effort.

atvari GmbH is alive! 🥳 We officially opened for business earlier this month, and today we're launching our new website.

atvari is a software and cloud engineering consultancy based in Lüneburg, Germany, working with clients worldwide. We help teams design, build, and operate secure, scalable, and easy-to-maintain systems, offering software & cloud architecture, custom software engineering, cloud engineering, and DevOps consulting, with particular depth in Rust and the Nix ecosystem.

After 11+ years building cloud-native systems for startups and larger businesses, I wanted to offer that experience directly to teams who need it, without the overhead of a big consultancy.

I'm also an active Nixpkgs contributor, maintainer, and committer, and I care deeply about digital sovereignty: building on open, auditable foundations instead of black boxes, so the systems we ship are secure and reproducible by design.

This is only the beginning. Follow along here or on LinkedIn, Bluesky, or Mastodon for updates. We already have an interesting partnership in the works, more on that soon.

If you need help with Rust, Nix, or software & cloud engineering more generally, get in touch, we'd love to hear from you.
